
Kitchen and Tasting Room Expansion
After two years of hard work, hopefully by March we’ll open our kitchen (Albura Taqueria) and expanded tasting room at our current location! “Albura” is Spanish for “Sapwood” and “Taqueria” is Spanish for “Taco Shop.” We’re currently building-out, applying for permits, refining the recipes, and hiring staff.
Our goal is to serve food that compliments our beer, and has the same flair. We’ll offer a few traditional Mexican-inspired favorites, alongside unique and seasonal dishes. We’re already offering Albura Lager, our first year-round core beer. It’s a Mexican-style lager we designed as the perfect beer to drink with a taco. We brew it with barley and corn grown and malted in Virginia, along with masa (the corn flour used to make tortillas). Response has been very well received and so as of the time of this article we have a darker version coming out soon and who knows what other variations for the future!
We’re looking forward to offering more food-centric events with pairings and beer dinners. We’ll be able to use the ovens in the kitchen to toast nuts and coconut for our stouts, and the kitchen will be able to use all of the citrus after we zest it for our IPAs!


What will change?
Not much, we hope! We’re sticking to the same service model with the option to order at the bar or have a server take your order and bring your beer (and food to you). The bigger tasting room will include an additional larger private events room available for events, and 50% more seating when the tasting room is busy. The regular rotation of food trucks will end, as will your ability to bring in food.
The change in license allows us to add wine and spirits to our liquor license. Beer will always be the focus, but we’re looking forward to having a few more options (a couple wines and a kegged cocktail). It also allows us to have fun events, for example serving the wine or spirit that was in a barrel we used to age a beer along-side the actual beer.
Initially our hours will remain the same, but we expect to add brunch burritos and lunch specials once we are running.
Thanks again for all of your support over the last six years. It’s allowed us to grow, retain (and add) talented staff, and create something we are immensely proud of!
